“No great thing is created suddenly.” ~Epictetus
It’s for this very reason that I continue on with my Photo of the Week. I firmly believe that I cannot simply wait around for some great inspiration or creative streak to strike – it’s quite likely that I’d be waiting a very long time! Practicing my photography regularly keeps me sharp and learning new skills. I find it easier to slip into the frame of mind needed to “see the shot” which in turn saves me time in producing quality images. Regular practice also helps to feed my creativity – I often find myself with more ideas than I have time to explore (you should see my desk – full of papers I’ve jotted notes on!). When I felt like I was hitting a good creative streak with my POTW, I wondered how long it would last. Nearly a year later, I’ve come to realize that I was simply hitting my stride with my photography. So my advice to you (take it or leave it) is to not wait around for that next brilliant streak of creativity to find you. Practice your craft regularly and you will find it.
