Sometimes I find capturing the full essence of an object difficult to do with just one image. Yes, it’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, but to tell the full story properly, I think you need a book! It could be why any artist revisits a particular subject or theme over and over again. I think it’s the reason why I have a tendency to create in series of images, and lately this has also involved making diptychs and triptychs within these series. Sometimes, that one image is great, but feels incomplete until that second (or third) image is sitting next to it.

Thanks so much to everyone that participated this week!
If you’re wanting to participate in Photo of the Week and are like many of us, sometimes it’s difficult to remember that deadline in time each week. Stop worrying about remembering and sign up for my email reminders! I send out a friendly reminder via email each week a couple of days before the deadline to turn in your POTW. Signing up for the email list is also a great way to receive important announcements and updates for this feature.
You’ll still want to sign up for my email list even if you’re not interested in getting POTW Submission Reminders. I also share occasional behind-the-scenes stories, info on local events I’ll be attending, sneak peeks at new products, and exclusive subscriber deals. I dislike getting excess emails as much as the next person, so I’ve tailored the sign up so you can tell me exactly what you want to receive. When you sign up you can set your preferences so you get only the emails you want (which can always be updated later if you change your mind). It’s a great way to stay up to date without remembering to check in with my blog/website everyday. Sign up here or use the simple signup form in the sidebar.
Until next time, have fun shooting!
You are right Jessica. I don’t know how many times I have photographed the same location or subject over and over, at different times of the year, different lights, etc., they all tell us a different story everytime.
Awesome collection of work this week. It is always motivating and inspirational.
Have a lovely weekend, T. :)
Once again a glorious study of wild grasses, Jessica, especially the explosive seed head. The combination of color and shadow underscores their delicacy and tenacity.
Another great collection of submissions this week, Jessica; I’ve got to start waking up before Wednesday!
I too have revisited the same location(s) at different times and conditions, looking for just the “right” set of circumstances. Then again, there are locations I have avoided because “Everybody” was shooting them. For the longest time I refused to shoot the Space Needle here in Seattle for that very reason, but finally caved so as to put my own spin on it.
All the best,
Steve
