introducing: tapestries
My love of working with fabric has really grown over the past 13 years of running my business. If you’ve chatted with me about my work, you may know that I love to quilt as a hobby, and that hobby has directly influenced my latest artistic endeavor with these one-of-a-kind tapestries. Shown above are just three of my latest works (and my current favorites!), “On a Kitten’s Toes”.
I’ve always had a hard time discarding scraps of fabric after a project is done and love the idea of re-purposing things in an effort to be kinder to our Mother Nature. With these new mini tapestries, I’ve taken some fabric images, salvaged scraps of canvas from making pillows, added a bit of natural batting (small pieces trimmed from larger quilting projects) and began stitching. Each one is completely unique as I let the image’s colors and shapes inspire my freestyle machine stitching.
The “On a Kitten’s Toes” pieces, along with all my other new mini tapestries, are available to purchase both at my studio in Glens Falls, NY and in my online store.
