GENERAL FAQ
Yes! I (Jessica) take all the photos you see on the products I sell. I love to photograph close-up details in nature as well as wide variety of vintage treasures. Browse the photos in my gallery to see what I'm talking about.
I do! (Hi, I'm Jessica - artist and maker of A Sense Of Wonder Studio) It all starts with my photography, then once it's transformed into fabric, I sew the images into all kinds of usable art!
I used to when I started making the tote bags back in 2011. Now, with well over 50 designs spanning a variety of fabric products, I get it made for me. This allows me to put my energy where I want: designing and finishing. I upload my images to the printer, tell them how big and how may yards to print, and wait for it to arrive in the mail. Then I get to cut it up and sew it into all the beautiful things I make!
Both online and in person!
You can find everything I make in my online store. I make sure the online store inventory matches what I have on-hand and ready to ship so I can get it to you in a reasonably quick time frame.
If you're in the area, I'd love to have you come visit my store in The Shirt Factory! It's open Thursday-Saturday (when I'm not running my booth at an event). The address is: 71 Lawrence St #118D, Glens Falls, NY 12801
Other opportunities to shop in-person pop up throughout the year as well. I take my wares to special events and festivals in my area - all of which get listed in my Calendar and Special Events page once I've scheduled them.
Yes! Any order placed through my online store can be scheduled for pickup at my store in Glens Falls, NY.
Place the items you wish to purchase in the cart, then on the checkout screen make sure that the "Pickup" option is selected instead of "Shipping". Then choose your day/time to come get your order. Once I receive your order, I'll be in touch to confirm your scheduled time.
Availability: Pickup is available during regular business hours, with some exceptions around holidays and special event days.
Address: 71 Lawrence St. #118D, Glens Falls, NY 12801
My store is located on the 1st floor of The Shirt Factory. The best place to park is in the large lot with the wheelchair ramp on the corner of Lawrence St. and Curran Ln.
You can come into the store to get your order at your scheduled time, or call the number on your receipt when you arrive and I can meet you at your car.
The best way to stay in the loop is to sign up for my emails. Depending on the info you're interested in (you can customize the types of emails you get from me), I'll let you know about new and restocked items in the store, special events and festivals I'll be at, and the occasional sale.
To sign up, just scroll to the bottom of any page of this website and fill in the easy sign up form.
Yes! I offer most of my tote bag designs to wholesale buyers. If you're a buyer and you'd like to receive more information about placing an order, simply contact me and I'll be in touch!
Yes, though since I work in larger batches, it is typically for wholesale orders. (For example, I can work with your business logo and a photo you own or have rights to use in order to create a custom tote bag design.)
That being said, I would be happy to fill an order for a larger quantity of something I already make, as long as I have the supplies on hand (for example, you're looking for something to give as wedding favors or gifts to a group of people).
If you'd like to talk to me directly about your ideas for a custom order send me a message!
TOTE BAG FAQ
They are quite generous! The interior dimensions are roughly 14" wide x 13" tall and expand to 6.5" deep. For example, one bag will fit 3 family size boxes of cereal with room left over for a half gallon of milk or juice!
Yes! The only differences between the bags are which image is on the front and your choice of style: to have the image be a pocket or not. Other than that, every bag is the same.
The straps measure about 22" long, making them easy to carry on your shoulder. Additionally, the straps are made from a heavy 1" wide cotton web material, so they are very sturdy for heavy loads while remaining very comfortable to carry.
It depends on the image, but there are 3 basic sizes for the lined pocket on the front of your tote bag:
Square images will be approximately 7" wide x 7" tall
Vertical images will be approximately 6.5" wide x 9.5" tall
Horizontal images will be approximately 9.5" wide x 6.5" tall
It is worth noting that I do sometimes crop images to a slightly different size and therefore your pocket may be a slightly different size from the approximations listed here.
Yes they are! I tend to abuse the bags I use personally - they get over stuffed, carry heavy loads, and used for all sorts of jobs and they have lasted me YEARS! They are strong enough to carry multiple large textbooks, or your heaviest grocery loads with ease.
Absolutely! Your tote bag can go right in the wash with your regular laundry, and hold up just as well as your clothing. I've never had the colors run or transfer, so even the brightest colors will look beautiful for a long time.
Over time and many washes the fabric photo may fade, but not any faster than your clothing. To help your fabric images last as long as possible, cooler and gentler cycles are best. Do not use bleach when washing. Tumble in dryer on low or reshape and lay flat to dry.
To clip things to! I carry my keys on a carabiner and the 3/8" opening in the grommet easily holds even larger carabiners. But they work for other things, too. One example for knitters & crocheters: place your yarn in the bag and feed it through the grommet to keep it from tangling while you work on your project. Have a portable charger? Fee the power cord through the grommet!
COASTERS and TRIVETS FAQ
Not at all! I approach everything I make with the idea of combining beauty AND function. The coasters and trivets are made using the same type of fabric images you'll find on my tote bags and pillows. They are so durable, I've scrubbed set-in coffee stains out of them without damaging the image!
If it's a fresh stain, blot up the soiled area before treating. For dry stains, slightly dampen area with water. Sprinkle some powdered Oxyclean on the stain and add just enough water to make a paste. Scrub paste into stain with your finger and allow to sit for as long as needed, re-dampening paste as necessary. Once stain disappears, rinse paste away, blot up all excess water, and allow to dry.
CAUTION: Avoid over-saturating/submerging in water! This could compromise the integrity of your coaster or trivet and/or pull up oils from the cork backing.
Yes! That was the main function (in addition to beauty) I was aiming for when I designed these coasters. The fabric top half is wonderfully absorbent for your sweaty summertime drinks.
Definitely! The image is heat safe, so you don't have to worry about your hot mugs resting on it.
Each coaster is approximately 3.25" x 3.25" (and o.25" thick), which will comfortably hold any mug, pint glass, or stemless wine glass.
The trivets come in two sizes: 6" x 8.5" or 7" x 7" (both are about 3/8" thick). Trivets have a thicker cork backing than the coasters in order to provide insulation from hot dishes (it's safe to put a dish straight from the oven on it!) The square shape is perfect for bowls, pies, or square casserole dishes, and the rectangular shape is good for larger casserole dishes.
PILLOWS FAQ
The pillows I make are approximately 14" x 14"
Most of them can be, yes! The fabric photo is colorfast, and I've never had colors run or transfer in the wash. All the pillows with flannel or canvas backing can be tossed right in the wash if needed. Occasionally I fall in love with more decorative materials which aren't machine-washable. If this is the case, I do my best to let you know and make a note of it in the item's description online.
I do suggest removing the cover before cleaning. I make the pillows covers with an envelope closure, so they're easy to slip off and wash. If you are unsure about the material used for your pillow, feel free to contact me with your questions.
Maybe. I get very small quantities of the backing material and may or may not have any more of it. I can usually replicate the design on the front, but can't guarantee I have more of the same backing fabric. In these cases, it's best to contact me to find out what supplies I have in stock and we'll find a combo that works for you!
