Exploring the Ordinary #2

Here we are at the second installment of my personal challenge to Explore the Ordinary. I chose to focus on a single fork today. For some reason, when I came up with the idea for this challenge I envisioned photographing a fork. So there you are – that’s the reason for the subject. I kept it simple, with just a white back ground and natural light. It was shot in the room in my house where I do most of my creative projects (at least those that don’t require the computer!).

At first I shot the fork pretty straightforward and ended up with images like you see here:
Not terribly exciting, really. So I made myself play more with the point of focus – even going so far as to switch to manual focus, which I haven’t done in quite some time! I also played with composition and angles a bit. Check it out, and be sure to cast your vote for your favorite at the end!

this is so great! i love that you used the white background and natural light! they are all really great, though i love absolutely EVERYTHING about "fork 1". seriously, if i had my own place, i would purchase a large print for my kitchen! so don't be surprised if someday i ask you about that… :)
