I find it difficult to want to return to my regular routine after a good long vacation. I’ve spent the past couple of weeks on a lake in the Adirondacks of upstate New York. Waking up and falling asleep to the sound of water lapping against the dock…spending entire days going from dozing in the sun, to floating in the water, and back to dozing in the sun… I certainly wasn’t ready to jump back into a faster pace physically or mentally, even though I know there are important things to be done. I suppose there is a balance that must be found; a balance in which I retain my peace of mind while I continue to do the necessary tasks of daily life. And when this peace of mind gets buried in that mountain of daily tasks, it will be more than time to take a trip solely for the purpose of rediscovering my peace of mind.
“Perhaps, after all, our best thoughts come when we are alone. It is good to listen, not to voices but to the wind blowing, to the brook running over cool polished stones, to bees drowsy with the weight of pollen. If we attend to the music of the earth, we reach serenity. And then in some unexplained way, we share it with others.” ~Gladys Taber

Beautiful entries to everyone!
Wow, your vacation sounds incredible! I agree that vacations to give us a nice reminder of how we can feel in the every day grind. I am a fan of more vacations!!
Thanks Jessica for the post. Have a good week!
Thanks Anika – it was a lovely vacation! It's amazing how quickly we forget how to relax. ;)
Beautiful images everyone!
I am just back from vacation too… and so ready to go back on vacation. At this moment, I'd like to sell my home and get an RV. I hear you about finding a peaceful middle ground with all this business and important stuff that must be done and finding peace. Good luck on your search… I am right there too. I think simplification, which is what I am working on, is part of the secret. Thanks for writing this post.

Thanks for your thoughts Hazel. I thing you're right in that simplification is definitely a part of that balance. Our society is a hectic one, so it can be a struggle, but it is a goal we can reach if we put for the effort.
